I got a decent job, finally. I've been looking for a month and got hired on the spot today, making decent money - enough to get caught up on bills and get my car fixed. It wasn't the one I had my heart set on (I do have an interview set up for that one, though) but for now, I'm happy.

...in all this bad timing and bad breaks we've been going through. The MRI came back clear. They didn't sedate me as promised (and, I swear, if they ever have to put me head first in that thing, they will have to because this was hard enough feet first) and I ended up needing to be pulled out once, but I got through it. No sign of any abnormalities and the uterine lining looks to be smaller than it was. Good news.

Bad news, the man has to take 2 more days off work and cancel the diagnostic for the car so I can have a D&C. Pre-op stuffs tomorrow, the D&C on Thursday. The doctor wants to keep me on the b.c. to see if it helps maintain things after this is dealt with. Here's hoping.

The biggest worry is the supplies. With the way I'm bleeding now, they may not be enough, but they are all I have.

Okay, that's not the biggest worry, but the other worry is supposed to be taken care of by sedation. Yea, we'll see how that goes.

I called about the ineffectiveness of the b.c. today, hoping, really, that he would change the dose or put me on the progesterone that was so effective the last couple of times. Nope. For one, my doctor isn't in today. For two, even if he was in, according to the advice nurse he'd want to see me before making any changes anyway.

I have the MRI tomorrow, for which I will have to be sedated because I'm claustrophobic. That's at 8:30 in the morning. In the meantime, I'm back to very little sleep. I'm trying to get some LP work done and work on finalizing a manuscript, but I probably shouldn't be sitting up all day either.

I just want this problem solved and done with. Is that too much to ask?

Story question: What would you use to disinfect cat scratches?

I want something that a Canadian character would use but an American reader would recognize, so probably an American product that's available in Canada. (Once I referred to "Gravol" in a story and while it's such a staple here that it's pretty much become the generic term, but the non-Canucks didn't know what I meant.)

ETA: As I worked on the scene, it becomes important that the stuff smell bad. Is there maybe a natural product that stinks? Tea tree oil or something (I googled).

 

I'm sitting in DII chat alone, but actually working on stuff. Right now, it's the first of 2 crits, maybe more (but not holding my breath on being able to do more than 2 in a day). It's good to have goals. For me, it's important to have goals. Every now and then I seem to forget that and start floundering. Lately other stuff has been interfering -- it seems hard to have goals when getting out of bed is difficult. But, like I noted yesterday, there is stuff I can do by hand, I just have to do it. I need to figure out what I can do over the week and get back to weekly goals as well -- they help me set my daily goals.

Really, I know what I need to do to stay on track. I don't know why I stop doing it every now and then.

Time to get back to that crit. It's only been half-done for 2 weeks now. :P

I mean, really, I'm on the last third of A.C. v4/5 revisions, and Phoenix is ready for some world building and the next stage of my npb process. Somehow I just have to barrel through the icky personal stuff and keep going on the writing. It's like trying to "find" time to write every day -- if you don't MAKE the time, you end up not writing. If I wait for the icky personal stuff to blow over, I'll be waiting forever. I know writing time doesn't "just happen" -- it has to be built into your day deliberately. Sometimes you do have to let it go, but you can't keep letting it go or you'll never get back to it.

Knowing all this doesn't make it any easier, though. It's always harder to get back into a habit when you've stopped for awhile, and my writing habits have been dismal since we moved out here. And now I feel like crap too, making it even harder. But it's also got to be done or I'll never finish a novel and never know if I could have had one published.

So, taking my revisions with me to my bed and working on A.C. chapters. Taking my world building lists with me too -- I can write those by hand for awhile if need be. The only part I really need to find the time for is the typing, and I do have good moments that I can take advantage of, I just have to do it.

Time to get back on my writing feet.
